This homemade lemonade recipe is refreshing, perfectly sweetened and the best for a spring picnic or a summer BBQ!

We love citrus and we especially love lemonade! We have made pineapple lemonade, lemonade water, and even pineapple lemonade popsicles. If you love oranges, you’ll love this orangeade recipe too!

    Lemonade Ingredients

    • Water: We recommend using filtered or purified water if possible.
    • Granulated Sugar: We use a bit of sugar to create a sweet simple syrup that balances out the lemon juice.
    • Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice will give this lemonade the best flavor.

How to Make Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

In a small saucepan add 1 cup of water with 1 cup of granulated sugar.

Heat on medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.

Remove from the heat and allow to cool.

Pour the remaining 5-6 cups of water into a pitcher and then add in the cooled simple sugar with the lemon juice.

Stir to combine and add more or less water to taste.

    Recipe tips and alterations:

    • Adjust the sweetness to your taste by starting with suggest amount of sugar and add more if necessary.
    • Fresh lemon juice is the best, we don’t recommend using bottled.
    • Add a pop of color and enhance the flavor by adding a few sprigs of mint.
    • Try Meyer lemons for a slightly sweeter twist on this classic drink.
    • Serve your lemonade chilled or with ice cubes for a refreshing summer drink.
    • Ensure a good balance between sweetness and tartness. Always taste and adjust the ratios as necessary before serving.
