Hi! We’re Courtney and Chris, nice to meet you!
We’re the writers, cooks, photographers, and videographers behind Know Your Produce. We have a love for produce that runs in the family and we’re thrilled to share that love and knowledge with you!
We love creating healthy and delicious recipes using fresh seasonal produce. Our recipes are easy to make and a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen with their food and their health, we strive on fruits or veggies in every meal! We also try to share as much as we can about nutrition and benefits whenever possible. Be sure to check out our nutrition disclosure as well.
A bit more about us:
We’re living our best life in NJ. It’s a small state with a ton of things to do, in fact, people often think of NJ as North, South, and Central, it’s not just New Jersey. We also have the beautiful Jersey Shores, we love visiting Cape May every summer.
During the summer we love hitting the local markets that are abundant with fresh fruits and vegetables, especially the best Jersey tomatoes and blueberries, the best blueberries come from Hammonton, NJ!
Prior to working from home, Courtney was an assistant teacher for children with special needs, she has a passion for helping us, but now it’s just in a different way, through healthy and nutritious recipes.
Chris works full-time as a store supervisor and has been working with fresh produce for over 20 years!
We also have a little fruit and veggie of our own! Kay had suffered from a very rare food allergy called FPIES and we knew that whole food was the best food for her. Would you believe that almost all her safe foods were fruits and vegetables? She loves her fruits and vegetables. This kid isn’t missing out in the least. Her diet is full of nutrients, vitamins, and wholesome food that our greats and grands always enjoyed. In fact, so much of our food is processed and those are the very foods that can make her sick. Along with the rest of the food allergy sufferers. There’s some food for thought!
Now our newest little, Maddie, also has food allergies. He was born at 30 weeks and 5 days due to placenta previa resulting in placenta abruption and an emergency c-section in the ER. He spent almost 2 months in the NICU and had to go through many formulas until Courtney finally said no more, we’re doing just breastmilk and he began to thrive. Unfortunately, Maddie also suffers from FPIES just like his sister, but so far it’s only to milk that he’s tried from the fortifiers in the hospital and it’s no longer in his diet at all.
Whenever you’re making a recipe we hope that you can add some fruits and vegetables to each plate. Even make a plate of nothing but fruits and vegetables for a snack or late-night dessert. Fresh produce or even frozen is a great way to take charge of your health and your family’s health as well.
