Simple backyard ground chicken burger recipe! A perfectly grilled chicken burger recipe, full of flavor and some veggies too! I’m sharing French’s® in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™” #FrenchsCrowd #FrenchsMustard
The summer sun is shining, and it’s finally FULL-TIME grilling season. We enjoy grilling all the time, but summer is a time when we can start grilling much more often.
July 4th is usually the first big BBQ of the season for us, and when it comes to food options we like to have plenty of them! You won’t find just the typical hot dogs and hamburgers.
I make sure to not only have vegetarian options but also options that aren’t red meat. Chicken Burgers are always a hit, and there’s never any leftover. Kids and adults devour our chicken burgers, they’re so good they get eaten as soon as they come off the grill.
The secret to a great chicken burger is packing flavor IN the patty. Beef has so much fat that you get a bit of flavor in the patty and typically only need a little salt and pepper.
Our homemade chicken burgers get a nice dose of tasty additions.
WHAT WE PUT IN OUR GROUND CHICKEN BURGER RECIPE
- French’s Classic Yellow Mustard
- French’s Tomato Ketchup
- Worchestshire Sauce
- Onions
- Red Pepper
- Egg
- Parsley
- Salt & Pepper
When you’re cooking chicken burgers it’s essential that you’re making sure they’re fully cooked, no one wants raw chicken.
This is different than just eating a chicken breast burger, both great, but we prefer a ground chicken burger recipe instead of just a grilled chicken breast.
The condiments and veggies help keep this burger moist and of course flavorful. When my wife first made a chicken burger, I thought I was going to have to eat something else for dinner, but since she made those first chicken burgers, I’ve been hooked. They’re just as flavorful, and you can get creative with flavoring the chicken.
Don’t worry if you’re at a party and the chicken burger is bland. Top it with tons of lettuce, tomato, and of course some mustard and ketchup. For lettuce, green leaf is my go to for burgers. It adds texture and it’s downright beautiful under a burger.

I will have to try the chicken burgers. I like chicken just never had a burger made from it. Looks great!
This is something new, I don’t eat beef so this will be a great substitute.
Thanks for the great idea.
I didn’t know they had ground chicken. I have used ground turkey for years. I’ll have to try ground chicken instead of turkey in a few of my recipes. I love Frenchs yellow mustard especially on french frie. No hot dog would be complete without Frenchs yellow mustard.
What a fabulous Idea! I cant wait to try this one, I usually buy ground chicken and pork. I will try this with my own spices in addition to this recipe. I love it!

Ground chicken burger….yes sir!
I was looking for a recipe for ground chicken and found this one. I followed the recipe to the letter but the mixture was very wet and I could only spoon the mixture in the pan. I had to use a pan not a grill. The patties would not hold together so I added some bread crumbs to the remaining mixture and they held together good. Did you put bread crumbs in yours, I didn’t see any in the recipe? The burgers were very tasty tho and will be using again. 😊
Hi, Shirley!
Oh no, sorry about that! We’re glad they tasted good! 🙂 We do not add any breadcrumbs, but if you’re using ground chicken that isn’t lean this may have been the issue. We use ground chicken breast which isn’t as moist as a say ground chicken that is made from dark meat.
😋 tasty recipe Thanxs for sharing your recipe. I only had half a red pepper, but it came out good. The only question is it came out a little mushy. I almost add bread crumbs, but it stated moist hamburger so I left it alone. I’m glad I didn’t change anything.
So glad you enjoyed! It’s my husband’s favorite!! 🙂
Just made these for lunch and used lean ground chicken breast. I agree with the other comment about them being super wet. I even put them in the fridge hoping they would stay together and they were still very wet.
Will add breadcrumbs next time because they do taste yummy.
The moisture will definitely depend on the kind of meat. When we ate meat we found that organic is a little drier, so that could be it. 🙂 Non organic tends to have more moisture/fillers.
OMG! Made these tonight for me! They are the bomb! I wasn’t sure about chicken burgers, but I’m trying to eat better. Hubs did them on the grill and they were so good!
Yay! We’re so glad you enjoyed them!! 🙂
