Grilled Pineapple is perfect for your summer BBQ as a side dish, on a burger, or even topped with a scoop of ice cream for dessert!
Grilled Pineapple Ingredients:
- Pineapple: You can buy already sliced fresh pineapple in the produce section, but we do not recommend using canned. Otherwise, checkout how to core a pineapple or how to cut a pineapple.
- Honey or maple syrup: You can use honey, brown sugar, or maple syrup.
- Avocado oil: A little bit of neutral oil helps thin the marinade and also helps prevent sticking to the grill a little.
- Fresh lime juice: We love fresh lime for a tangy flavor to balance the sweetness of the pineapple and added honey.
- Lime zest: You can omit, but we love the fresh lime flavor!
- Kosher salt: Just a pinch to balance the sweetness.
How to Make Grilled Pineapple with Honey-Lime Glaze:
In a bowl, combine honey or maple syrup, avocado oil, fresh lime juice, lime zest, and a pinch of kosher salt. Mix well to create the glaze.
Heat the grill to medium-high heat.
Once hot, carefully brush the grill grates with oil to prevent the pineapple from sticking.
Brush the marinade mixture onto the pineapple slices, ensuring they are well coated.
Place the pineapple slices on the grill.
Grill for 3-4 minutes per side, or until grill marks appear and the pineapple is slightly caramelized.
Serve the grilled pineapple promptly.
Recipe Tips and Notes:
- Choose a Ripe Pineapple: To ensure the best flavor, use a ripe pineapple.
- Oil the Grill Well: Make sure to oil the grill grates well to prevent sticking, as pineapple has natural sugars as well as the added sugar that can caramelize and stick to the grill.
- Even Slices: Slice the pineapple into even slices to ensure it cooks evenly.
- Don’t Overcook: Keep an eye on the pineapple while grilling. It should be slightly caramelized with grill marks but not charred.
- Storing: Store any leftover grilled pineapple in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in a microwave, air fryer, or on a warm skillet until warmed throughout.
