Our homemade Orangeade recipe is a refreshing mixture of fresh orange juice, lemon juice, sugar, and water. Best served over ice with a straw, just like the Jersey shore!
Down the Jersey shore you’ll find the typical fresh squeezed lemonade, but have you tried fresh squeezed orangeade?
It’s something special and it’s typically find all throughout the Jersey shore. There’s something about going down the shore and having Fresh Orangeade.
Ingredients:
- Oranges – We recommend Valencia, juicing oranges, or navel if in a pinch.
- Lemons – Using lemon adds a bit of tartness that oranges don’t have.
- Water – You’ll need water to add extra volume and balance the oranges with the added sugar.
- Sugar – We use granulated sugar or cane sugar. You can use your preferred sweetener if needed.
How to make orangeade
Place the sugar and 1 cup of water in a medium sauce pan.
Heat on medium heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Let the simple syrup cool and then add it to your desired pitcher with the remaining ingredients.
Stir and refrigerate until ready to enjoy.
- You can control the amount of pulp by adding some that is removed or further removing it with a nutmilk bag or fine mesh sieve.
- Always use juicy and flavorful oranges, it will taste just like the oranges. If they don’t taste good neither will the orange juice.
- Use the citrus peels to make zest before juicing.
- Save the lemon and orange peels to make a simmer pot or potpourri.
- Refrigerate: We recommend enjoying orangeade as soon as possible and refrigerating for only 2-3 days.
