If your avocado isn’t ripe yet, we suggest letting it get ripe on the counter. Once ripe, you can use it, and we suggest checking daily if you think it’s just about ready.

We like to store near apples or bananas to make the avocado ripen quickly.

If you’re not going to use your ripe avocado immediately, we suggest placing them in the refrigerator for 2-5 days. We usually use it within three days but have had some last up until a week.

If using soon, you can refrigerate the avocado, we like to toss it with some lime juice or submerge it in water to prevent browning.

If you won’t be using an avocado right away, you can also learn how to freeze avocado for up to 4-6 months!

Firm avocados are not ripe yet; the harder they are, the less ripe. This means that they will not be ready for use for several days (3 to 5 days).

We do not recommend storing avocados in water

Avocados, plus many other fruits and vegetables can have bacteria (like listeria) on the exterior flesh. This is why we always recommend washing your fruits and veggies!
