Pear Butter is simple to make and great to have in the fridge. You can use this pear butter recipe on muffins, toast, pancakes, or in your morning yogurt!
In a large sauce, combine all the ingredients and give a stir so everything is well combined.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat until the mixture is at a steady but slow simmer. Cover and cook for 30-45 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes and scraping the bottom of the pan so that it doesn't stick or scorch the pan.
Remove from the heat, allow to cool until warm.
Use a blender on the puree setting, and blend until smooth. Taste and add more maple syrup to sweeten, if desired.
Notes
Use ripe pears to get that rich pear flavor, it also helps give it more sweetness.
You can control the sweetness of this recipe by adding more maple syrup or less maple syrup. Other sweetener options would be coconut sugar, cane sugar, agave, or honey if not vegan.
Want more spice? Add in some clove and nutmeg for that fall flavor similar to apple butter.
We love using a high-speed blender for the smoothest butter, but you could use a food processor or hand blender if you do not have a blender, it may not be as smooth.
